You were taught to fear the wrong thing

The cost of sitting in a 4.5% HISA is bigger than the cost of being wrong in XEQT.

Risk-aversion is marketed as Canadian responsibility — "safe" GICs, "safe" HISAs, "safe" variable-rate mortgages that just blew up in 2023. In reality, Canadian inflation ate 3.9% in 2023 and 2.8% in 2024, while XEQT returned 17.2% and 19.8%. Doing nothing isn't safe — it's expensive. A dollar in a 4.5% HISA loses purchasing power every year CPI runs hot. A dollar in a globally diversified equity index compounds through the noise.
